there is nothing quite like miles and miles of traveling on long empty roads in New Mexico to reacquaint my inner artist with the glories of line and color. lines of the highways, phone lines on tall poles, white sand dunes, stalactites and stalagmites, and rolling hill horizons. colors of the muted desert vegetation, sun rises and sun sets, and various blues of the cloudless spring sky.

A Blast at Imagination Space

It’s shocking, but true… I had yet another fantastic experience at Imagination Space. Last Saturday, I facilitated an “Altered Book” workshop. Individuals and families… young and elderly… picked out a “blank” book and turned into their very own work of art.I’m hoping to offer this same workshop again in a few months.
Next month, however, I’ll be offering a Make Your Own Journal workshop. We’ll have paper and supplies for guests to put together the cover and pages of their journal, notebook, sketchbook, etc. I will present a few different book-binding techniques. It should be a lot of fun!

Prepping for the Altered Book workshop…
So yeah, I picked up 40 children’s board books at the Goodwill. I am covering them in good ol’ gesso to prep them for the workshop I’m offering at one of my favorite places in the world: Imagination Space. I’ll provide the “blank” books and creative coaching… Imagination Space will provide art supplies… and guests will provide their imaginations! It should be an extremely fun and dynamic time!Feel free to join me… first 40 folks get a book to alter/create/manipulate/etc! Or feel free to bring your own book(s) and embellishments... then turn them into art with other creative people.
